I purchased a Motorola KRZR K1 in June 07 from O2 at a cost of £139. Just a few days after the warranty expired, it began to go wrong and a short time after that, went completely dead.
As the warranty had barely made it to a year, and £139 for just 1 years use seems to me to be very poor value for money, I decide to contact O2 to see if they could help. They simply didn't want to know. 'Contact Motorola' was all they would say.

Motorola were equally dismissive but promised that a supervisor would phone me before close of business the following day to discuss the matter. The call never came.
I got through again, quoting the call reference they had provided, but they stated that there was nothing on their record of the call to indicate that anyone was to call me back. However, after confirming that they had my correct phone number, promised again that a supervisor would give me a call. Once again, they didn't bother.

I have now given up (which I can only assume is what they wanted) and have reverted to my old Samsung phone which, in stark contrast to the Motorola , is still problem free after 4 years.

I suppose neither O2 or Motorola have a legal obligation to fix problems with their sales/ products even a single day after the warranty expires, but am I being naive in thinking that companies, thinking of their business in the longer term, would do better to administer their policies in such cases with a degree of flexibility and common sense?

If you are thinking of buying a mobile phone and you are looking for reliability and good after sales service, then my advice has got to be:

Don't buy a Motorola and in particular don't buy it from O2

    Don't do it!

Looks lovely and has lots of features but I have had nothing but problems and lots of other people with the same phone have as well

Can't connect to the internet and this is a common problem according to my network provider
Can't send photo messages - another manufacturing fault
    Changes ring tone itself
Frequently can't call out and people can't call me

really bad phone just don't bother getting it. When a netwrok provider tells you they have a maunufacturing fault across the board you know its bad. My only question was, "why do you let people buy them then?"

oh, and the manufacturing faults were not covered by the insurance I took out from Phones for You but they were on my home insurance. Never bother with their insurance.

I really liked this phone, i thought it was really well made and everything.
It was simple and easy to use and it looks really sexy. No offence, but it is definatly a womens phone.
I like everything about the phone, however i did have a few problems within a couple of weeks of purcchase, but i sent it back nd they fixed it now :).
    I would reccomend this phone

I have always been a motorola fan and would never turn to the dark side of Nokia. My last phone was the V3i and the Razr carries on in pretty much the same vein. The motorola software is always very easy to get your head around and even easier to customise the settings of your phone.

Need ringtones ? just add them as an Mp3. The razr also uses some kinda voodoo in it piggy backs on a local network when signal needs boosting. So far never lost a call because lack of signal, best phone yet !
